Who is better in Tests either Kohli or Smith, has been a fuming question for all. Virat Kohli has gone through a lot as he has not been consistent in all forms also his captaincy is suffering as he has failed to make it several times in the mega ICC events.
Smith made his comeback for Australia in 2019 as he was banned from Australian cricket for two years from playing and twelve months from captaincy as a consequence of ball-tampering when Australia Cricket Team was at Cape Town and Cameron Bancroft utilized sandpaper to alter the conditions of the ball. He did really well like a run-machine and scored many runs in the Ashes for his side and regular test matches.
Kohli and Smith are struggling with each other in the ICC Test rankings for the batsmen as the Australian batsman ranks first with 911 points, whereas, Kohli occupies the second position with 886 points.
Wasim Jaffer, the ex-Indian cricketer, considering Kohli’s inconsistency and Steve Smith’s scoring potential since his return in the test cricket, has chosen Smith over the Indian batsman.
Wasim Jaffer picks Steve Smith over Virat Kohli in test
“I have to give it to Steve Smith for his form since return from suspension,” Jaffer said.
Wasim Jaffer thinks Rohit Sharma will surpass Virat Kohli when it comes to scoring runs, however when it comes to consistency, the former Indian cricketer chose Kohli over Sharma.
“In sheer consistency, Kohli edges past Rohit. But Rohit will be ahead in terms of banking on starts and scoring after getting his eye in,” said Wasim Jaffer.
