Shoaib Akhtar: I was upset when I did not let Tendulkar complete his ton

India and Pakistan, being the rival nations, have added a twist of fume in their cricket matches and when the game happens, its more like a war rather than a game. Spectators find it amusing and thrilling to watch India vs Pakistan, especially World Cups.

In 2003, India again beat Pakistan and maintained the World Cup streak of a win against Pakistan. Pakistan have never managed to win the World Cup against the neighboring country, India. Although they gave the surplus target then, they lost eventually as Indian batsmen played sensible innings.

Sachin Tendulkar was the star of the Indian side as he scored 98 in the World Cup 2003 but unfortunately, was grabbed by Shoaib Akhtar.

Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistani fast bowler in a recent social media video has revealed that he wanted to give a chance to Sachin when he was on 98, to go for his century and felt upset when instead of hitting a six on the bouncer, Sachin Tendulkar lost his wicket. He thinks that the Indian batsman shall have touched his century and Shoaib gave him the chance as well.

Shoaib Akhtar was upset when he dismissed Tendulkar on 98 in World Cup 2003

“I was very sad because Sachin Tendulkar got out for 98. It was special innings, he should have touched the century mark. I wanted him to hit the century. For that bouncer, I would have loved to see a sixer, as earlier he hit,” the Rawalpindi Express, Shoaib Akhtar said during a live session on Helo.

Shoaib wasn’t good in form as he conceded 72 runs in 10 overs and was taken to cleaners after it. However, earlier, Shoaib has blamed Waqar Younis’ poor captaincy as the major reason behind why Pakistan lost to India in ICC World Cup 2003.
