Shoaib Akhtar takes a dig at IPL: Let the World Cup go to hell

Shoaib Akhtar, the former Pakistani cricketer, has slammed the Indian Premier League (IPL) believing that the cash-rich league is taking place overtaking the ICC T20 World Cup.

He suspects that ICC has given them a clear window to hold their tournament in full swing. Taking the dig at Indian T20 league, he said that let the World Cup go to hell as all BCCI cares about is, IPL at any cost.

Shoaib said that he had already mentioned that it would happen and finally, it has.

A lot has been said about IPL as many believe that it is taking place after a personal request from the global cricket body to clear the window shifting the World Cup.

“T20 World Cup could have also happened, but I had already said this earlier that they won’t let it happen. IPL should not be damaged, let the World Cup go to hell,” he said while speaking to Geo Cricket on a Youtube.

He also suspects that the Asia Cup could also have taken place in September and the arch-rivals, India and Pakistan could have played against each other. He does not say clearly all the reasons he believes in having in his heart. Shortly, IPL has got a vast window of September-November after ACC and ICC have canceled Asia Cup and T20 World Cup respectively.

“Asia Cup could have definitely happened, it would have been a great chance for India and Pakistan to play against each other. There are many reasons for this. I don’t want to get into that,” he further added.
