On Wednesday, Shashank Manohar has stepped down as the chairman of the International Cricket Council (ICC) after which Indian people are noticeably relieved.

Niranjan Shah, an ex-secretary of the Board of Control of Cricket in India, believes that Shashank damaged Indian cricket and it is a big relief after he has stepped down of his duty.

He thinks that Cricket India’s cricket spoiled by Shashank and it has lost its value across the World.

Also, Srinivasan, the former president of the BCCI, has similar views to that of Niranjan. He also said that the finances of India Cricket lost its value due to Shashank’s poor role. Terming Manohar, he said that the chairman was anti-Indian.

“Ever since the new leadership has come into BCCI, Shashank knew he could not afford to represent India and use that as a vehicle for his convenience. He knew he had no chance (to continue) and therefore he had run away,” Srinivasan told The Times of India.

“My personal view is he has done so much damage to Indian cricket that every person involved in Indian cricket will be happy (with his exit). He has hurt India’s finances in the game, has hurt India’s chances at the ICC, he has been anti-Indian, and has reduced India’s importance in world cricket. He is running away now because he knows he will not get any bow from the Indian leadership. He has caused huge damage,” Srinivasan said.

“His exit is a relief to Indian cricket. Manohar could never stick around for a fight. In 2015, he left BCCI in the middle of its worst crisis. Now he is leaving the ICC in the middle of a pandemic. Personally, I am happy to realize what has happened…that such a person is no more with the ICC,” he added.

“Shashank Manohar stepping down as Chairman of ICC was rather obvious. Shashankji must be having mixed feelings from what could have been done for the promotion of cricket at the international level and what was done to the cricket of India during his tenure. In the relaxed phase now he may evaluate his tenure as Chairman of ICC and also as of BCCI that has been the platform. Niranjan.

He may appraise what damage was done to Indian cricket and BCCI during his tenure; forgetting that cricket and cricket fans of India have given utmost popularity to the game; and also how much revenue and fame cricket of India has brought to the world of cricket,” said Niranjan Shah, as quoted by Times Now.

“BCCI went through much turmoil in the last couple of years. And ICC during these years took undue advantage to damage cricket of India and BCCI in all possible manner. However, I am fully confident that present strong and worthy leaderships of BCCI shall have strong, beneficial and constructive representation and initiatives at ICC,” Shah further said.
