Shane Watson, after watching Ambati Rayudu’s performance for the Chennai Super Kings (CSK) against Mumbai Indians (MI) is inspired as the player performed incredibly linking his match-winning knock to a deserving victory for the side.
Watson believes that India made a bigger mistake as they dropped him back in the World Cup 2019. He was quoted as saying that Ambati might have been Men in Blue’s major asset to score runs.
Ambati added 71 in 48 balls that have been praised by many. Harbhajan Singh was also quoted saying that injustice was done to him back in ICC’s mega-event.
Shane Watson: India lost the World Cup 2019 after dropping Ambati Rayudu
“Rayudu batted absolutely beautifully for his 71 (in 48 balls),” Watson said in a chat during his T20 Superstars podcast. “He is an incredibly talented batsman and I think it was a loss for India’s one-day team by not picking him in the 2019 World Cup squad.
Watson said that the player even crushed the toe-crusher Bumrah and could have been of point for India as the way he has paid for CSK was worth praising.
“To be able to take down Jasprit Bumrah as he did was incredible. He’s got scoring options all around the ground. And he’s got a fair bit of point to prove as well against his old team Mumbai.”
“It will be less however much you appreciate Rayudu. I feel there was an injustice done to him when the World Cup team was picked. He should have been definitely there on that team. But he has shown again in this match, how much ability he has, and that age is on one side and talent is also something that needs to be looked at,” Bhajji told Sports Tak.
