The Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) has clearly stated that the Indian Premier League (IPL) is part of the domestic cricket and it shall not affect the schedule of the mega-events like Asia Cup.
PCB thinks IPL shall not be given priority over Asia Cup. According to the existing schedule, Asia Cup is likely to be staged by September and the T20 World Cup is to be commenced by 18th October. As the ICC officials are looking forward to canceling the World Cup, Indian authorities are looking forward to holding their cash-rich league in a window of September-November.
PCB not in favor of giving IPL a window over Asia Cup, claims that IPL is domestic and mega-events shall not be disturbed
“How PCB can let go of Asia Cup T20 window for the sake of a domestic league. Asia Cup T20 will be organized as scheduled and as decided between the members over the last teleconference. It is important and critical for the finances of PCB and also for the growth of ACC member boards,” a PCB source was quoted as saying in Insidesport.
Also, Wasim Khn, the CEO stated that Asia Cup shall be the priority and IPL shall not be taking priority over it by any means.
“Our stance is absolutely clear, the Asia Cup is set for September and the only reason it should not take place is continued health safety issues. We will not accept that the Asia Cup is moved to accommodate the IPL,” CEO Wasim Khan had earlier said.
