Keshav Banerjee, MS Dhoni’s childhood coach, has revealed that Dhoni is not such a personality who will call up people to tell about his retirement. He thinks that MS Dhoni knows better the time whenever to get retired.
MS Dhoni can play T20 World Cup even if it doesn’t happen: Keshav Banerjee
“Dhoni is not the kind of person who will call up people and tell them ‘I am retiring’. He knows how to do it. When he will feel it is time, he will inform BCCI and call a proper press conference and do all the things that need to be done. Like he did when he called time on his Test career,” Banerjee was quoted as saying on Latestly on Thursday, May 28.
Recently, a hashtag on twitter “#Dhoniretires” got viral. Consequently, Dhoni’s coach said that the public shall not keep an eye on everything social media is claiming. He maintained that Dhoni whenever will feel like retiring, will pass notice to BCCI and will retire with dignity.
“You don’t go by social media. There are many things that become ‘trends’ but end up as fake news. I don’t know why people are after Dhoni. I know him well and I can tell you, he will let all of us know when he thinks he has to retire,” he said.
The coach said that Dhoni is fit to an extent that even if the mega-event gets postponed this year, he can be eligible for next season as well.
“You will get to see in the IPL how fit Dhoni still is. He can play the T20 World Cup even if it is postponed. Even if it happens next year,” Banerjee added.
