The International Cricket Council (ICC) met via teleconference where talks took place in order to finalize the venues for the T20 World Cup 2021 and the T20 World Cup 2022 that got postponed and was originally to be played from 18th October at Australia.

It has been decided that the T20 World Cup 2020 that has been shifted to 2022, will be hosted by Australia. However, the T20 World Cup 2021 is finalized to get hosted by India as there was a debate over the hosting rights.

“We now have absolute clarity on the future of ICC events enabling all of our Members to focus on the rescheduling of lost international and domestic cricket. We will now proceed as planned with the Men’s T20 World Cup 2021 in India and host the 2022 edition in Australia,” said ICC Chief Executive Manu Sawhney.

It is to be noted that India also have the right to host the ICC World Cup 2023 that is to be played between October and November.

After the cancelation of the T20 World Cup 2020, BCCI is able to hold their cash-rich T20 league, IPL, in the full swing in September-November.

Earlier, the league was all set to be kicked off by 29th March but the several delays amidst the Coronavirus delayed the league shortly. BCCI was looking for every possible window to organize the cash-rich T20 league. After the ACC and the ICC have canceled the Asia Cup and the T20 World Cup, BCCI has got a vacant window of September-November to hold it and have decided 19th September as the initiative date.
