Gautam Gambhir, an ex-Indian cricketer thinks that the current all-time Indian skipper, Virat Kohli, has achieved nothing as a skipper and he has got a lot to achieve as a leader.
Gautam has represented his views because notably, Kohli’s captaincy is suffering although he has got brilliant tactics to dig most out of his players.
His aggressive way of leading and understanding with the players have several times remarkably taken India towards victories. The leadership qualities, however, have been an obstacle according to some figures as Virat Kohli has failed several times to reach the desired feat in the final stages of the mega-events.
In the World Cup 2019, Team India remained undefeated throughout the tournament but poor tricks led India to face defeat against New Zealand in the semifinals.
Similarly, in the ICC Champions Trophy 2017, the side humiliated others badly in the group stages but lost badly to Pakistan in the finals of the tournament.
As a consequence, Gautam Gambhir thinks that Kohli can keep on scoring runs but teamwork is required to make it in the final stages of the big events.
Gautam Gambhir: Virat Kohli has achieved nothing as a leader
“Lots! It is a team sport. You can keep scoring your own runs. There are people like Brian Lara who have scored so many runs. There are people like Jacques Kallis who have won nothing. Virat Kohli at the moment has won nothing, to be honest as a leader. He has a lot to achieve,” Gambhir said during the latest episode of Star Sports show, Cricket Connected
“You can keep scoring those big runs but according to me, till you win those big trophies you will never be able to fulfill your entire career,” Gambhir added.
