The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) is to arrange a farewell match for MS Dhoni as he has bid a farewell to the international game without playing his last goodbye match.
He is undoubtedly known as one of the greatest leaders and the best among skippers either in India or in the globe. Dhoni is the only leader to win all ICC trophies and Asia Cup twice.
Dhoni has said goodbye to international cricket on 15th August along with his best buddy, Suresh Raina, as they pre-planned to retire together.
The greatest leader of all time played his last game back in 2019 in the semifinal of the World Cup. It was on his agenda to take a year gap and make a comeback in cricket featuring in the thirteenth season of the IPL first.
However, he was spotted playing in the nets for preparing for the cash-rich league before March. The practice was interrupted amidst the Coronavirus outbreak. After BCCI has scheduled IPL formally, his franchise, Chennai Super Kings (CSK), is the first to start practicing again. Dhoni will be captaining CSK in IPL 2020 at UAE and if he wins, he might leave IPL as well as declared by unofficial reports.
BCCI to arrange a farewell match for MS Dhoni
“There is no international series right now, maybe after IPL, we will see what can be done because Dhoni has done a lot for the nation and he deserves all the respect. We always wanted to have a farewell match for him but Dhoni is a different player. He announced his retirement when nobody was thinking of it,” the official was quoted as saying in The New Indian Express
“No, but surely we will speak to him during the IPL and that would be the right place to get his opinion about a match or series. Well, there will be a proper felicitation ceremony for him no matter if he agrees on it or not. That will be our honor to felicitate him,” the official stated.
