The Board of Control of Cricket in India (BCCI) has lashed out at the International Cricket Council (ICC) for delaying the decision over the ICC T20 World Cup 2020.

The tournament, according to the existing schedule, is all set to be commenced by 18th October but amidst the Coronavirus outbreak, there are higher probabilities in the schedule.

If the tournament cancels, BCCI will have a vast window to organize its cash-rich league, IPL, whose future is hanging by a thread because of the delay in the World Cup’s decision.

An official of BCCI said that if they want to cancel, then why no call has been made yet. If they denounce the decision, then also the other board can decide the fate of their bilateral series in the window.

“Why is the outgoing ICC chairman (Manohar) creating confusion? If the host cricket board doesn’t want to conduct T20 World Cup, why will it take a month to announce the decision? Is he trying to hold BCCI to ransom?” a senior BCCI official said as quoted by The New Indian Express.

“It’s just not about the BCCI or the IPL. If ICC announces the postponement during this month, even those member nations whose players are not a part of IPL can plan their bilateral series in that window. -making will hurt everybody,” added the BCCI official.
