The well-known commentator, Ian Bishop believes the currently most discussed batsmen of the cricketing era, Virat Kholi, and Babar Azam reminds him of the great Sachin Tendulkar.
Praising straight lines hit of the three batsmen, Bishop says he used to bowl against Tendulkar and watch Babar and Kholi batting in a similar way reminds him of retired Indian cricketer.
When it comes to cricket, no one can forget the services of Tendulkar as indeed, he was the perfect all-rounder to his country. The legendary batsman surpassed 15921, 18426, and 10 runs respectively in Tests, ODIs, and T20Is. Mostly known as the greatest batsman, the occasional bowler has grabbed 154, 46, and 1 ODIs, Tests, and T20Is wickets respectively.
Babar Azam and Virat Kholi remind me of Sachin Tendulkar: Ian Bishop
“Virat Kohli, Babar Azam, who in terms of the straight lines, you remember Sachin Tendulkar, there’s a reason why I think he was the best batsman I bowled to as he always played in the straight lines and these two guys (Kohli, Azam) present that,” Bishop was quoted as saying.
Revealing a few of his favorites, he mentioned toe-crusher Bumrah as a ‘generational talent’ who shines in all formats. He also maintained when he watched South Africa’s Rabada bowling against West Indies’ Pollard and says the fast-bowling tactics inspire him.
“Jasprit Bumrah is a generational talent, the ability to adapt to all the formats is brilliant. Kagiso Rabada is someone I find impressive, the first time I saw him was in a T20 match and he was bowling to Kieron Pollard. I am seeing a fast bowling renaissance right now and it excites me,” the veteran added.
